How the hell is everyone supposed to be equal? Even two individuals who are the same based on the various classifications we use (such as gender, age, ethnicity) are highly unlikely if not impossible that they will be 100% the same. If they are not the same, how can they be treated the same and become equal?
People cannot also be equal unless they have the same experiences in their life, and in order for that, they must be the exactly same person, at the same place, at the same time in all instances of their lives to reach equality.
Equality of what?
Of happiness, material wealth, or of everything possibly imaginable?
Equality among whom?
Among humans, animals, or other “living” organisms? What about non-living organisms? Should we give them life so they are also equal? Genetically modify a tree to make them one specific type of human so that we will all become exactly the same thing. Let’s also modify our houses. They must also be equal to us and all things.
Equality how?
All types of chemical modifications (includes genetic modification).
Somehow manipulate the space-time continuum, so we can put everyone all in the same place at the same time.
Set political laws... Wait we’ve done that already.... Hmm, not working…
Why be equal?
Ummm. I don’t know.
To be continued…

I believe (agree) that nothing can ever be equal.
For example, placing two objects of the same specifications and same influences of manufacture and storage, right next to eachother can never be equal. The fact that they are in a different posistion makes them unequal.
Just like 'pure water'('100%') can never be pure (100%) as it is always in contact with another substance, material or object.
Equality is merely how much we are prepared to ignore to see two ro more things as the same.
To one shopper, two t-shirts, one with a slightly frayed seam could be considered as "the same" where as to another the two shirts would be "totally different".
The debate over equality is the amount which is to be ignored to consider 'different' things as the same. As a Scientist would have decide to when conducting an experiment, and a Sports event coordinator* would have to, when deciding that there are 'no' 'unfair' advantages/disadvantages present, before and druing that event.
The pure water analogy is very interesting but I fail to see any relevence to perhaps the impossibility of equality.
Thank you for bringing in elements of subjectivity and giving an example of sport umpire.
Philosophy of Sports has always been a great interest in mine, and I may consider writing my thoughts on it.
None the less you have very good ideas.
